It's me again! Sorry, with so much info coming and going I apologize, I got confused and reported the wrong date for our Regional Festival - the original dates were 10-12 so we had to move them to 3-5. I apologize for the miscommunication and confusion, totally my fault.
Also, here's the answer to a few questions I've gotten:
The festival will be streaming so students shouldn't have to worry about taking time off or doing a field trip request to participate - any live workshops will be scheduled after school hours/afternoon so that everyone can attend them. I know we're all pretty limited on our field trip opportunities and options this year.
The One Acts will run basically the same as usual with a few exceptions - you do not have to film your one act on a stage (your own or someone else's) you may film it outdoors or if you're doing a Zoom show then it will be everyone's Zoom room - again, there are no scores based on film and editing abilities.
There will be no way to score your stage manager and book but a well run show is usually always the result of a great and prepared stage manager so their contributions will be felt and seen.
We have a list of awards being presented but the powers that be are still working out what all awards will be offered but it's a pretty good selection.
I also want to emphasize that we will not be competing for slots this year - every one act that scores a superior will be allowed to go on to State. So you don't have to concern yourself with the video and technical capabilities of others - your show will be judged on its merits alone.
You're going after your Superior Score not hoping to make the final cut to State.
The whole mindset of this festival should really be more focused on celebration than competition (but that's generally an encouraging goal to work after every year).
Thank you for the follow up questions and responses I've gotten so far - sometimes it's nice just to know you're not the only one in this crazy situation! -JB
